Climate Transition Plan 2024
Cairn’s broad climate change objective is to deliver high-quality, energy-efficient homes at scale, with a focus on reducing emissions and protecting and restoring biodiversity to meet the needs of present and future communities in Ireland.
Our Carbon Reduction Targets & Progress
Science Based Targets
We commit to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 46.2% by 2030 from a 2019 base year. Cairn also commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, upstream transportation and distribution, use of the sold products and end of life treatment of the sold products 61% per total floor area sold within the same timeframe.
Our targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative Criteria and Recommendations, who have classified our scope 1 and 2 target ambition as in line with a 1.5°C trajectory.
Partnerships Driving Change in Construction
We are committed to decarbonisation throughout our value chain, and we recognise that collaboration with partners and suppliers is crucial. Together, we are working on innovative ways to reduce carbon emissions, minimise waste, and improve efficiency. Our shared responsibility for sustainability goals drives us to exceed regulatory requirements, and by joining forces with like-minded partners, we are accelerating our journey towards a greener, more sustainable construction industry. Together, we are building a better future.
Energy Efficient & Passive Homes
Energy-efficient and passive house standards play a pivotal role in helping us meet our Scope 3 emissions targets while fostering innovation for comfortable, sustainable homes that benefit our customers and the environment.
These standards also drive us to innovate, creating homes that not only save our customers money through lower utility bills but also reduce their carbon emissions. It's a win-win scenario that aligns with our commitment to a more sustainable future.
