Construction Safety Week is an initiative by Construction Industry Federation and aims to celebrate best practice, to reinforce the importance of safety, and to promote health and overall wellbeing in work and in life. Each day will promote a new theme, including Mind Your Health, Work at Heights, Safe Lifting and Managing Hazardous Energies.
For Cairn’s part, we are committed to creating a safe working environment and ensure that the highest industry standards for health and safety are set and achieved. Each active site has a dedicated health and safety officer, ensuring that all of our policies are implemented and we retain an independent external auditor to undertake a monthly audit of our practices. The Cairn Culture Committee drives social, health and wellbeing initiatives and in 2020 we established the role of a Mental Health First Aider, of which there are now 20 across the business.
Our dedicated Health and Safety Team, together with our Mental Health First Aiders, have put together a programme of initiatives for Construction Safety Week 2021 which will engage and educate our teams, both site and office based, and our sub-contractors.
