What does Cairn use CCTV for?
Cairn uses CCTV and the personal information it records to:
- identify, prevent and investigate unauthorised access to, or criminal behaviour on or against, Cairn’s sites or premises;
- help meet Cairn’s obligations in respect of the health & safety of its employees, contractors, and other persons on its site and premises by identifying, preventing, and investigating health & safety incidents and unsafe acts.
Sometimes, where CCTV:
- captures behaviours that are disciplinary issues, the CCTV footage may be used to support disciplinary action and enforce our policies and procedures; and/or
- can assist in legal claims or is permitted to be used by Cairn for other purposes, it may be used for those purposes.
How long are recordings kept for
CCTV footage is generally kept for thirty days. If specific footage is needed for longer (for example, to defend a legal claim) it may be kept for up to thirty-six months or a longer period where advised to us by our professional advisers.
Lawful use of your personal information in connection with CCTV
It is in Cairn’s legitimate interests to use CCTV for the purposes described above. You have the right to object to this processing by writing to us at our address or by emailing us at privacy@cairnhomes.com. We will consider whether your objection is reasonable in accordance with the law.
Who do we share CCTV footage with?
We may share CCTV footage in connection with the purposes described above to:
- our professional advisers, so we can bring or defend legal proceedings;
- our insurers, if we need to make insurance claims;
- health & safety advisers to manage our health & safety risks; and
- An Garda Siochana so they can investigate and prosecute crimes.
If you are contractor, CCTV images may also be shared with your employer. Sharing CCTV footage with contractors’ employers is in Cairn’s legitimate interests for the purposes described above.
We also provide CCTV footage to third parties who provide services to us, such as:
- security service providers; and
- information technology and information services providers.
These third parties can only use the personal information we share to provide their services to us or to support our delivery of our services to you. They cannot use your personal information for other purposes.
The recordings may also be shared in accordance with any legal obligations we have.
Security of your personal information and where it is kept
We use strict procedures and security measures to ensure the confidentiality and security of any personal information in CCTV footage. This includes using third party services that meet the highest international security and resilience standards.
Your personal data is kept in the European Union. However, our technology providers may use facilities or service providers outside the European Union. In such cases, we ensure any transfers of personal information are subject to safeguards that ensure it is protected. Your rights
You have the right to…
- access your personal information;
- object to our processing of your personal information;
require us to delete it; - rectify any personal information we hold that is incorrect; and/or
- have your personal information transmitted to another data controller.
If you want to exercise these rights, please let us know in writing (privacy@cairnhomes.com). You will need to provide information to verify and complete your request. Subject to any restrictions or limitations on these rights, we will complete your request within thirty days.
